Commercial Laundry Service for Hotels in Ohio, Indiana & Kentucky | Economy Linen
Table of contents

Economy Linen and Towel Service provides hotel and hospitality linen programs in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, including rental, laundering, pickup and delivery of sheets, towels, table linens and staff uniforms. We are a family-owned commercial laundry service for hotels that has operated since 1931, and the difference in our programs is that your linen inventory is reviewed every month and reset to match your occupancy, rather than locked to a fixed national route.

The field includes national uniform and linen companies and a smaller number of regional operators. Economy Linen and Towel Service is the regional option for hotels, inns, banquet venues and event centers in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky: we supply the linen, launder it at our own production facilities, deliver it on a schedule built around your property, and manage the inventory with you so you are never over-stocked in January or short on a sold-out Saturday in October.

What a hotel linen service program covers

A hotel program from Economy Linen can cover guest-room bedding, bath linens, pool and fitness-center towels, restaurant and banquet linens, staff uniforms, floor mats, restroom supplies and janitorial products, all on one account and one invoice. We build the mix around your property, so a 60-room limited-service hotel and a full-service property with a ballroom get different programs, not the same catalog.

  • Guest rooms: sheets, pillowcases and blankets, in the sizes that fit your bed configuration.
  • Bath: bath towels, hand towels, washcloths and bath blankets, with robes available for properties that offer them.
  • Pool, fitness and spa: towels for pool decks, fitness rooms and on-site spas, drawn from the same programs we run for spas, gyms and salons.
  • Food and beverage: napkins and tablecloths in white and custom colors, kitchen towels, bar towels and aprons for your restaurant, plus catering and banquet linen for ballrooms and meeting rooms.
  • Staff uniforms: chef coats, kitchen and server uniforms, aprons, and front-of-house and maintenance apparel through our uniform rental programs.
  • Facility add-ons: entrance and logo floor mats, restroom dispensers, soaps and paper, and can liners, chemicals and gloves through our Premier Janitorial Supplies line.

Hotel uniform programs

Hotel uniform rental works the same way as the linen side: we supply the garments, pick up the soiled ones, launder and press them, and return them with the next delivery. Kitchen and server garments go through an automated steam process so they arrive ready to wear, and chef coats can be monogrammed with your logo. Renting rather than buying means a new hire or a torn coat is a phone call, not a purchase order; we cover the trade-offs in detail in our guide to uniform rental versus purchase for hospitality.

How the program works

Par levels are set during the needs assessment, before we quote, and then adjusted every month. A par level is the quantity of each item kept in circulation per room (or per table and per staff member), sized so there is always a clean set in the closet while the last set is with us being laundered. Here is the sequence:

  1. Needs assessment and par setting. We look at room count, bed configuration, average and peak occupancy, F&B seating, event calendar, staff headcount and storage space before quoting, because a program should be built around how the property actually runs, not around a standard route.
  2. Rollout. We stock your closets to par, install any mat and restroom equipment, and fit uniforms by employee.
  3. Scheduled pickup and delivery. Our route trucks collect soiled linen and deliver clean on a fixed schedule set to your turnover, with frequency adjustable as occupancy changes.
  4. Monthly usage review. We give every client proprietary software to track and manage inventory, then sit down each month to go through usage, loss and ragout and reset par levels and delivery frequency for the season ahead.

Rent your linens or own them?

For most hotels in our territory, renting is the better choice: it removes the capital cost of a full linen inventory, moves replacement of worn items onto the laundry, and converts linen into a predictable monthly line item that scales with occupancy. Owning makes sense mainly for properties with specialty items that are not available on rental or with an on-premise laundry they intend to keep running. Our hotel programs are rental programs; if you already own an inventory, raise it during the assessment and we will tell you plainly how it can fit.

Built for occupancy swings

Hotel demand in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky is not flat. A home football weekend in Columbus or Bloomington, race week in Indianapolis, a convention in Cincinnati or a wedding block in Northern Kentucky can sharply increase the linen a property turns in two days. Our programs handle that in three ways: par levels are set with your peak periods in mind rather than the average month, delivery frequency can be stepped up for a known busy period, and your local account team can work out an extra delivery when a sell-out comes faster than the forecast. The monthly review then pulls par back down for the slow season so you are not paying to hold stock you cannot use.

That responsiveness is what our clients across hospitality, spa and wellness talk about. Rachel Rodriguez of Knead Thera Peace, a massage practice we supply with sheets and towels, put it this way: "When business has unexpectedly increased and at moments we were running low of sheets, they have gone above and beyond to provide the things I needed to serve my clients." (Read her testimonial.)

Hygiene and processing standards for hotel linen

Guest linen at Economy Linen is processed in the same facilities, under the same accredited procedures, as the linen we supply to hospitals. Our hospital laundry has been accredited by the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) since 2007, and both of our production facilities hold TRSA Hygienically Clean and TRSA Clean Green certification. In plain terms, HLAC accreditation means our hospital laundry meets patient-safety standards built on federal regulations, guidelines and industry practice. Hygienically Clean adds third-party inspection of our laundering practices and ongoing microbial testing of finished textiles, so cleanliness is measured rather than assumed. Clean Green certifies that we meet standards for conserving water and energy while doing it. You can see the full list on our certifications page.

Our Zanesville production facility runs a 12-module tunnel washer rated at more than 5,600 pounds of laundry per hour, and a $2M+ renovation increased its capacity by 30% while saving an estimated 20 million gallons of water a year. For a hotel that means processing headroom when the whole region is busy at once.

Why hotels in the region choose a regional commercial linen service

For an independent hotel or a regional group, a regional provider fits well because the people who set your par levels, drive your route and answer your calls all work in the same territory you do. Economy Linen is fourth-generation family owned, founded in Dayton in 1931 and still led by the Feldman family, with distribution centers in Cincinnati, Columbus and Indianapolis and two production facilities, including our Zanesville, Ohio plant. National providers bring scale and a large catalog, and some hotel groups need that footprint. What we add is a monthly usage review with a local account team that can change your program as your calendar changes, and a single invoice that covers bedding, F&B linen, uniforms, mats and restroom supplies.

Pricing is the other difference. Our invoices show consistent pricing from cycle to cycle, straightforward line items and advance notice of any change, which we explain in our post on why transparent invoicing matters. Before signing with any linen provider, ask for the replacement and loss charges, the minimum weekly billing, and whether fuel, energy or environmental surcharges are added on top of the quoted rate, then ask to see a sample invoice.

Frequently asked questions

How often will trucks come to my hotel, and what happens if we run short on a sell-out weekend?

Delivery frequency is set during the assessment to match your turnover, and it can be increased for a known busy period. If occupancy outruns the forecast, call your account rep and we will work out an extra delivery; setting par with your peak periods in mind is how we keep those calls rare.

How are par levels set for a hotel, and how do they change?

Par is set per room from your bed configuration and occupancy pattern, sized so a clean set is always in the closet while the last set is with us, with towels and F&B linen calculated the same way. Our inventory software tracks what is delivered and returned, and the monthly review raises or lowers par as seasons, event calendars and room counts change.

How is hotel linen priced, and what fees should I ask about?

Pricing is quoted after the needs assessment, based on the products, volumes and delivery frequency your property needs. Before you sign with any provider, ask about replacement and loss charges, minimum weekly billing, fuel or environmental surcharges, and how price increases are communicated; our invoices use consistent cycle-to-cycle pricing with straightforward line items.

How clean is commercially laundered hotel linen?

Linen from Economy Linen is processed by a company whose hospital laundry is HLAC accredited and whose production facilities are TRSA Hygienically Clean certified, which means independent inspection of our processes and ongoing third-party microbial testing of finished textiles. These are healthcare standards applied to guest linen.

Is a regional linen company a better fit than a national provider for an independent hotel?

For an independent hotel or regional group, often yes, because a regional provider can set and adjust your program locally, review usage with you monthly, and put bedding, F&B linen, uniforms, mats and restroom supplies on one invoice. National providers suit multi-state groups that need a single contract across many markets.

Can one provider handle banquet linens, uniforms, floor mats and restroom supplies as well as bedding?

Yes. Economy Linen supplies guest-room and bath linen, restaurant and banquet linen, staff uniforms, floor mats, restroom supplies and janitorial products on a single account, which removes separate vendors, deliveries and invoices.

What are the benefits of outsourcing hotel laundry instead of running an on-premise laundry?

Outsourcing removes laundry labor, equipment maintenance, utilities and chemical costs from your operation, frees the space for revenue use, and moves linen replacement onto the provider. It also gives you accredited processing standards and third-party testing that you would otherwise have to document yourself.

Does Economy Linen launder hotel-owned linen?

Our hotel programs are rental programs, which for most properties is the lower-cost and lower-risk option. If you have an existing inventory, tell us during the assessment and we will discuss how to handle the transition.
